CANCELED-Cleveland Rocks-Rock N Roll Weekend
Note: This will not have a limit of RSVP's however my car and room will only fit 4 so the 1st 3 RSVP's who pay up first are in.
Join me for a Rock N Roll weekend in Cleveland Ohio. Itinerary will include the opening weekend of the Women in Rock exhibit
at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, dinner at House of Blues
followed by some bar hopping or Hall of Fame Spring Benefit concert featuring Wanda Jackson and Cyndi Lauper (more information about concert to come). Lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe will also be on the itenerary for Sunday. The plan is to leave Saturday morning(early). RSVP's will be responsible for paying for their own room. Splitting the cost of a room will be cheaper so if I know you I would be willing to share a room. My vehicle fits 4 comfortably. Please make note in your RSVP if you are interested in sharing the ride + gas. Also hotel costs will need to be paid in advance if you plan to stay with me. I currently have a room booked for 4 (2 dble beds and sofa sleeper). Total cost is $127.50. Break this down by number of RSVPs[4 ppl=$32.00each, 3 ppl=$42.50each]. This cost does not include the $15.00 parking fee if you're planning to travel with me. Feel free to book your own room if my room sounds too crowded or if you are a snorer. The Hotel I've booked my room at is the Hampton Inn Downtown.
Admission to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame are $22.00. For AAA members-discount tickets ($17.99) but must be purchased in advance here
or call 800.711.5370.
From the Hall of Fame website:
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum will open a groundbreaking and provocative new exhibit that will illustrate the important roles women have played in rock and roll, from its inception through today. Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power will highlight the flashpoints, the firsts, the best, the celebrated -- and sometimes lesser-known women -- who moved rock and roll music and the American culture forward.
The interactive exhibition will spotlight more than 60 artists and fill two entire floors of the museum. The exhibit will feature artifacts, video and listening stations, as well as a recording booth where visitors can film a short story or moment of inspiration related to women in rock. The exhibit will move through the rock and roll eras, weaving a powerful and engaging narrative that demonstrates how women have been the engines of creation and change in popular music, from the early years of the 20th century to the present.
PENDING EVENT IDEA:
Saturday night's Rock N roll HOF "It's only Rock n Roll" Spring Benefit will feature HOF inductee Wanda Jackson and Cyndi Lauper. Additional artists will be announced in the coming weeks. I will update the post when info becomes available. Tickets for this show will go on sale March 28, 2011 for members and March 29 to the public. Ticket prices have yet to be announced. Depending on the price of tickets I might want to check this out. If prices are too pricey we'll check out Cleveland's night life.
More information to come.
