I'm not usually an architecture guy but I fell in love with the National Cathedral during high school and never looked back. It is a modern vintage (or somewhat modern, as it took a hundred years to build) Gothic cathedral, right here in our backyard.

The Gargoyle Tour is a presentation that the docents occasionally give that highlights some of the most interesting characters in the cathedral...the thousands of faces in all of it's nooks and crannies that bring joy to us and help scare away the evil spirits.

All of the faces are different and that range from the comical to the grotesque, up to and including our old friend (and nemesis) Darth Vader. They are all charming though and it is always something I look forward to.

Metro access is a little sketchy but I posted the cathedral's thoughts on how to get there in the Related Web Link. I will be glad to give you a lift back up the hill to Tenleytown after the event or we can even work out a pick up on the way there if you need it. Just let me know.

I will probably wander around the cathedral some afterward and would love some company for that too, and perhaps a stop at a local watering hole. I don't know the neighborhood, so I will do a little research but I'm open to suggestions from anyone who knows the neighborhood a little better.
